Iris Sims, president of Beta Theta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, attended the Psi State convention March 25-27 at Lake Blackshear.
While at the convention, Sims received a “Woman of Vision” award, presented to outstanding educators for their vision and dedication to education.  She also presented information to members on literacy projects at the Literacy Seminar, headed by Dr. Cheryl Hunt Clements of north Georgia. Sims currently teaches gifted education at Lanier Primary School.
The society is an honorary organization represented by 100,000 key women educators in 17 countries. The statewide meeting of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is held to provide professional and personal growth opportunities for members, networking with other educators and address the business of the organization.
Psi State celebrated its 75th birthday and initiated Robin Ferst, founder of the Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy, as an honorary member for her outstanding work to support Georgia’s children.
