So far, four potential jurors were dismissed during this week’s death-penalty trial proceedings for Fort Stewart soldier Sgt. Joseph Bozicevich, according to Fort Stewart spokesman Kevin Larson.
One juror was dismissed Tuesday afternoon and three more were dismissed Thursday morning, Larson said.
“Military judge Col. Tara Osborn instructed a panel of 16 soldiers, ranging in rank from sergeant major to colonel, on the nature of the court-martial and panel members’ duties,” Larson said in a written release. “During panel questioning, a member was excused (Tuesday) for having prior knowledge of the case and a bias.”
The other three jurors were dismissed for just cause, he said.
Bozicevich is charged with two counts of premeditated murder in the deaths of Staff Sgt. Darris Dawson and Sgt. Wesley Durbin. All three men were assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division.
On Monday, Bozicevich entered a not-guilty plea, according to Larson.
