Prospective college football players will have a chance to show their stuff Saturday morning in Richmond Hill at a high school player combine hosted by LRS Sports, a recruiting service based out of Florida.
The combine will run from 8:30 a.m. until noon at DeVaul Henderson Park.
It is open to all "rising ninth- through1 2th-graders," according to Richmond Hill High School football coach Lyman Guy, regardless of where they attend school.
There's no cost to participate in the event, which is open to players no matter their position. It will include a number of speed, strength and agility drills.
Guy called LRS the real deal.
"Colleges pay (LRS.com) for their services, so kids don't pay anything," he said. "Their job is to go out and find talent, gather the data and report it back to the colleges. We were fortunate enough to bring one to Richmond Hill."
Guy said Dwight Thomas, LRS Sports top scout and a veteran of the recruiting business, will attend the combine.
"He does a lot for SEC schools, you'll see him around at a lot of camps such as UnderArmour and Nike training camps," Guy said.
So far, coaches from a handful of area high schools will be bringing groups of players to the combine, but there's always room for more, Guy said.
Players must have parental permission to attend the camp.
Permission sheets and profiles are available online at http://www.lrs.com/LRSSports/Recruiting/ and players can fill them out online or print them out and bring them with them to the combine.
