The Richmond Hill Rotary Club is gearing up for its annual fundraiser – a prom-themed evening inspired by the musical “Grease.”
The dance, set for 7 to 11 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Richmond Hill City Center in J.F. Gregory Park, will be a chance to help raise funds for local and international charities.
“We hope everybody from our community will try to attend," said Larry Barker, Rotary board member and event organizer. “In 2010 our annual Rotary Club fundraising event raised over $15,000, and we hope to increase this in 2011 as funds raised will go to help our community including senior citizens programs, educational sponsorships, such as the J.D. Gardner Scholarship, good causes like the Matthew Freeman foundation and international initiatives such as Alzheimer’s research.”
Attendees will feel as though they’ve been transported back to the 1950s at the City Center ballroom with the big band Sapphire Bullets of Love playing from 7 to 11 p.m. with hits from the 1960s to the 1990s.
The evening will also include a 20-minute dance show performed to songs from “Grease” and a dance contest.
Food and Valentine’s cookies will be served with a cash bar, and silent and live auctions will be held. Tickets are $50 per person, which includes dinner. Sponsorships are also available.
To purchase tickets or for more information, call Larry Barker at 756-5942; Tina Eberlein at (912) 884-3726; or Ray Pittman at (912) 234-5300.
